Professor Eteiba has an extensive background in the medical field, serving more than 20 years at the College.
He has held several prominent positions, including President of the Scottish Cardiac Society, Associate Medical Director at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, and Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow.
His appointment marks a significant milestone in his career and is a testament to his contributions to the field of cardiology and medicine.
Professor Eteiba will assume the role of President-Elect for 12 months, beginning at the College Annual General Meeting on December 1. He will officially take over the presidency in December 2024, succeeding the current President, Mike McKirdy.
McKirdy expressed his congratulations to Professor Eteiba and other newly elected office bearers. He also noted the high levels of engagement in the elections, with voter turnout significantly higher than the previous year.
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, as the UK’s only multidisciplinary Royal College, represents a diverse body of almost 16,000 Fellows and Members both in the UK and internationally.
