Compensation Case by Kenyan Tea Pickers in Scotland Halted

Appeal judges in Scotland have temporarily stopped a multi-million pound compensation case brought by Kenyan tea pickers against James Finlay Kenya Ltd (JFK), one of the world's largest tea suppliers.

The workers allege they suffered musculoskeletal injuries due to working conditions on tea farms in Kenya. JFK argued that the claims should be dealt with in Kenya, not Scotland, as it has no significant connection to Scotland.

The Scottish Court of Session initially allowed the case to proceed, but JFK's challenge in the Inner House of the Court of Session has led to the case being "sisted" or halted for now. The workers are now considering an appeal to the UK Supreme Court.
